Team Of The Year...

Now, that it's 31st ...it only seems fair for me to put my team of the year. Sadly, not many players have been consistent throughout the year...!

I play a 3-4-3 formation with two wingers supporting the striker and two holding midfielders. Not all would agree my team is the best...but it is based on the last season ending, world cup and this season's performances. Feel free to comment or abuse(new year spirit)!

Goalkeeper:

Iker Casillas -
Not many issues here. Captain of the world cup winning team, solid performances for club; surely deserves to be here. With Buffon injured, there were really not many contenders.

Defenders:

Nemanja Vidic -
No Nonsense, Ever Reliable.

Carles Puyol -
Physique, Strength, Leadership...he sure is an inspiration for all the young buds out there.Captaining Barcelona the way he does, and work ethic is just fantastic. Can anyone forget his header against Germany(still give me 'em collywobbles)?

Philipp Lahm -
Excellent year for one of the world's best wingbacks. Champions league final..commendable figure in the German football picture.

Defensive Midfielders:

Sami Khedira -
Not the type to shy away from tackles. Bring on anyone! Not many heard of him before the world cup, but Mourinho knew what to do. Anchoring the Madrid midfield with Xabi Alonso, surely a dynamo in progress.

Esteban Cambiasso -
Yes, you sure read the name right. I'm sure this will bring up a few fingers up...but then his contribution is never taken much notice of. Solid anchoring the midfield, that eventually led to the treble and his chip ins are very handy too. Okay he missed the world cup, so that's not my fault nor his. Ask Maradona.

Attacking Midfielders:

Xavi -
My choice...Your choice..everyone's choice...my XI wouldnt have been for football without Mr.Hernandez, or "pinger" as I like to call him. Stats speak for everything...highest passing accuracy...amazing leadership on the pitch. The way he conducts the play is a joy to watch.

Wesley Sneijder -
On his day, he is the world's best!  The heartbeat of Internationalaze Milano, he has been terrorizing defenders all across the globe. His performances for the Oranje have been faultless as well.

Forwards:

Lionel Messi -
Cometh the goals, Taketh the glory, the simple policy Messi has been following. You don't want to hear me go on about Messi as it would take me a year to finish writing about him(though I don't like him very much!)
Pure Genius!

Carlos Tevez -
If you expected to see David Villa's name here...POOF! You can make a google search for him and read all that you want. Tevez has been the most consistent player in the Premier League and is leading City's quest for a CL spot. Okay, he had his share of issues, so give me a break. Terrific performances for Argentina too.

Cristiano Ronaldo -
I didn't want to put his name here at all in the first place! But you cannot argue about his contribution to the team. Going neck-to-neck with Messi in the LaLiga. Will be much respected if he stops being lame!

BIGGEST FLOPS OF 2010:

1. Didier Drogba -
Was expected to carry Ivory Coast all the way(no idea where to!). Has carried his indifferent form for Chelsea, maybe his heart is back at Marseille.

2. England National Team -
Beckham getting injured was not the most auspicious of signs. Nevertheless, the troops rallied on, dreaming of lifting the trophy. Came crashing down to Earth, all thanks to Germany!

3. Wayne Rooney -
His statements about Manchester United did not go down well with anybody at all(except Real!). If he cannot learn to show some respect and dedication at this point, when can we expect him to? Of course, everything was hushed up by the gaffer, but where are the goals!!!

BEST SIGNINGS:

1. Rafael Vander Vaart - Chelsea decided to sign Ramires insetad of him...the rest shows!

2. Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez - Amazing headers, great finishing; surely the biggest bargain of 2010!

3. David Silva - His skill shows. Amazing linkup play with Tevez, excellent crossing, I'm backing him to get better in 2011.

There you go people, that's all I could scribble up for now. May you have a great 2011(hopefully a good footballling year too!)

On your face CHELSEA!!!

Actually, a lot of people have asked me how I came to choose such a wonderful(!) name for the blog. Well, the thing is I was listening to Foo Fighters(everlong.) while creating the blog...so that's the story behind it(pretty lame I admit!) but then this is not an Andy Pender's(www.andypenders.com) blog..so there you go.

Okay, so back to business. Firstly..Manchester United rather Berbatov..WHAT A GAME(thank you, Evra)!!! One may say Sunderland had injury woes..Welbeck wasn't eligible...blah ..blah blah..scream all you want! The play was just imperative by the former champions, and if there is still anyone who doubts Berbatov, just close your browser, go to your room, look into the mirror and pinch yourself hard till you come to reality. I predict Manutd to walk away with the title this season.

Ever heard of a club called Liverpool? You're forgiven if you haven't..so you don't have to go to a psychologist right now. The Kops had their share of christmas present. They will surely have a better chance of winning the postponed match(one might hope for some new players!) but then it remains to be seen if that is going to impact the premier league in anyway. Go gerrard(not to other clubs)!!! That is all the motivation I can give them right now, so spare me.

I'm sorry not to have mentioned Spurs' victory over Aston Villa earlier(Berbatov got to me), Van der Vaart being the man again, it was quite a tussle but eventually they got what they deserved. Looks like Bale isn't back from the north pole yet, but then they've got someone who can turn it around.

Manchester(blue) had a comfortable victory thanks to the "unhappy one." But people, do not get your hopes up! City is as inconsistent a team as the Magpies...but City being richer and more inconsistent won due to their inconsistently consistent players(okay, I got a little high!).

In other matches, Carlton Cole scored a brace to ease to a 3-1 victory over Fulham(like that matters anyway).

DO NOT STOP ME ANYMORE FROM ABUSING CHELSEA(man..i was waiting to get to this part!). Mr.Ancelotti, what's happening...you are managing a team in the same league as Alex Ferguson is. Sure, you won the title last year, but then you cannot rest on that laurel for this season. Drogba is misfiring on all cylinders...defence looks shaky and the midfield is easily outwitted...maybe letting Ballack and Caravalho go wasn't the best decision after all. When there is no Lampard...the team looks completely lost. Essien has been decent so far, but i see no reason to protect Mikel and Ramires. Time to open the cheque book perhaps?
All credit to the Gunners though...excellent performances by Fabregas and Van Persie after their comeback(wonder how long they are gonna last this time). Song is sure on song. Nice move, Mr.Wenger! Ancelotti talked about the "Chamakh" factor...but you've shown that you can go for the kill even without your "header."

The transfer window is looming and looks like Chelsea and Liverpool are going to have a busy period. Till then..wait and watch!

So long then dear readers...at the end of the day I'm just another neutral football fan, so don't be after my blood. Happy new year...!

Ciao..

Foo Foo Football

Well,,here we go!

Hey there to all the football freaks who've taken time to drop by., and to all those people who haven't heard of football,..(a sport in which which a score and a two people are out to kill each other.,,mind you this is serious business.) HEY!

Okay,,first things first....let's start off with the last week's round up. A massive disappointment for the fans - chelsea v/s mutd got postponed,,,not that the result would have mattered anyways as one of them is fighting for relegation(haha..I'm such a neutral fan)!

Arsenal would be secretly celebrating the fixture postponement. Obviously the Arsenal=Kids theory is being proven wrong by the players, Arsenal's being really tough physically mind you, but then their hospital beds aren't empty too(tit for tat you say..heard Wenger's getting a built-in hospital in the stadium for christmas). Let's not judge the kids too much, too early.

Okay moving on to the rich kids from Manchester, Oh Man!!!!! Top of the table..you don't get that chance everyday. Its obvious that they fail to deliver in demanding circumstances so I'll give them a Europa spot for the next season.
P.S : Let me not even talk about Liverpool.

That's all of importance right now..Tottenham fans forgive me..I've not mentioned how cruel Bale is getting these days,,he was last spotted with a shotgun at the north pole(..no idea what he's upto!)

Time to go...but stay tuned right here.

Adios..
